Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra: Mr. Baraka inquires about the progress of several road projects

The minister, who was accompanied by the wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, governor of the province of Laâyoune, Abdeslam Bekrate, the director of the provisional management of the RN1 from Tiznit to Dakhla, M’bark Fancha, elected officials and heads of external services, inquired about the progress of a series of road projects within the framework of the maintenance and extension program, the priority program for safeguarding unclassified roads, and the coastal protection program and that relating to public facilities.

These road projects concern the widening and strengthening of national road No. 5 linking Boucraâ to Gueltat Zemmour over 76 km, for a total cost of 96 million dirhams (MDH), as well as the construction of national road No. 17 between Jdiria and El Mahbas, over 128 km, and the road surface of national roads No. 17 and 17B linking Es-Semara to the Mauritanian border over 53 km, for a total investment of 215 MDH.

It also involves the construction of the unclassified road linking the national road No. 14 to Sidi Ahmed Laâroussi over a length of 17.5 km for an amount of 31 MDH, in addition to the works of protection against erosion of a length of 1,700 meters of the coastline of Foum El Oued, for a total amount estimated at 186 MDH.

Furthermore, Mr. Baraka and the delegation accompanying him learned about the project relating to the construction of the regional public works equipment park, which covers a total area of ​​30,000 m², including 4,435 m² covered.

The progress rate of work on this park, located in the commune of Foum El Oued and with an investment of 30 MDH, has reached 80%.

Similarly, the Minister was informed about the project relating to the construction of the Institute of Technicians Specializing in Public Works (ISTP), which covers a total area of ​​25,000 m², including 10,000 m² covered, requiring a budget of 80 MDH, as well as that relating to the establishment of the Regional Directorate of the National Agency for Public Equipment (ANEP), for an amount of 15 MDH, the progress of which has reached 10%.

In a statement to the press, Mr. Baraka stressed that these road projects are of great importance, as they will contribute to improving the quality of the roads, noting that the works involve strengthening and widening the road from 4 to 7 meters.

With a view to strengthening technical capacities related to public works in the southern provinces, he said that an Institute of Technicians specializing in public works will be set up, which will allow approximately 400 trainees to benefit from proven skills in the field, and thus facilitate their access to the job market, whether in the public or private sector.

Mr. Baraka also indicated that the establishment of the regional park of public works equipment will serve as a warehouse for public works machinery, guarantee their maintenance and facilitate rapid interventions if necessary, adding that the construction of the regional directorate of ANEP will allow the realization of a series of projects in the region.

On this occasion, the Minister of Equipment and Water inquired about a series of road programs launched in the region, as well as the progress of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway project, which has reached 97%, or 980 kilometers of the expressway and 15 major engineering structures opened to traffic.
