The 65th anniversary of national independence was celebrated in style in Labé on October 2, 2023. Not a single citizen wanted to be told about the event to the point where the El hadj Saifoulaye Diallo stadium turned away people.

Arriving at the Place des Martyrs at 10:10 a.m., the regional governor, Colonel Robert Soumah, first conducted a review of the troops before laying the commemorative wreath of flowers in an atmosphere of rare solemnity supported by the nouba of the El hadj Omar Tall camp from Labé for the te deum.
Then, the officials crossed the gate of the El hadj Saifoulaye Diallo stadium to take their place at the official stand and make way for the parade.

The civilian bodies and corporations first paraded before giving way to the dressed bodies.

For the waltz of speeches, mainly, there are two, notably that of Mayor Mamadou Aliou Laly Diallo and that of Governor Colonel Robert Soumah.

For his part, Mamadou Aliou Laly Diallo spoke about the heroes of the republic before welcoming the mobilization: “This is the time and place to pay vibrant tribute to our predecessors who fought for our people.
On behalf of the population of Labé I would like to thank all the prefectural and municipal authorities for unity and understanding, the populations of Labé ask me to thank you, Mr. Governor…”

Governor Robert Soumah also recalled the sacrifice of the brave martyrs before saying the following words:
“Since our independence, we have overcome many challenges while maintaining our unity and freedom. We must also pay tribute to our leaders throughout the different eras who played an important role in building our nation. Let us be proud of our past and have confidence in our future…”
