The union platform of Labor inspectors – which brings together all the unions, except Seslaess, of sub-inspectors – has unanimously rejected the first proposal that they have been sent from the Government to try to unravel the conflict in the state body. “He is a patch“This is how they have described it from the centrals. The problem between the inspectors and the Executive is entrenched and escalates given the internal differences between the ministries of Job y Hacienda (on which officials depend).

The Ministry of Labor transferred the inspectors this past Thursday in an emergency meeting that could not make them an offer due to differences with the Treasury, accusing the latter of benefiting the socialist ministries -such as Social Security and Justice- for electoral interests. A political tension that spread to the inspectors, who had already demanded the resignation of Yolanda Diaz Now they add that of María Jesús Montero.

“The labor conflict is now accompanied by a new variable that also transforms it into a political conflict,” they say from the centrals. “It’s not a budget issuebecause there is already approved game”, they add.

786 new places and six million for bonuses

After the tension on Thursday, this Friday morning the first offer ended up arriving, which in the eyes of the centrals is insufficient. According to different union sources, the Government is offering 786 new positions, out of a staff that is currently around 2,000 members, in three years.

There, the centrals doubt, on the one hand, their profile. “It does not clarify whether they are active personnel (inspectors or sub-inspectors) or technical/administrative personnel,” say sources familiar with the negotiations. And, on the other, they consider that this increase in places was already in the commitments of the previous public offer of employment.

From the platform of inspectors they also reject the budget item of six million euros put on the table by the Government to remunerate productivities. Well, the main claim, which is a new list of jobs that reorders the structure of this state body, remains undefined.

Partial stoppages until July

That is why the centrals not only maintain, but also study how to escalate the conflict and intensify their calendar of mobilizations. At the moment they have called partial strikes until the end of June. And, in parallel, the plants are finalizing the procedures to file a complaint with the International Labor Organization (OIT), based on the fact that the current means of the Inspection do not allow the State to guarantee the correct compliance with its labor regulations.

Currently, the Inspection staff is made up of a total of 2,051 personnel, including inspectors and sub-inspectors. A body that must ensure the labor rights of the 20.6 million workers who are currently active. That is, they touch one inspector for every 10,048 workers.
