Hosur: Ashok Leyland Labor Union elections, after 70 days of protest, results declared.
At the Ashok Leyland Unit 2 factory at Kumudeppally near Hosur, union elections are held once a year.
Last, on 7 Oct 2020, Michael was elected as the Chairman. At the end of his one-year term, elections were not held.
As a result, from last April 25, every day, 5 workers went on hunger strike. The strike continued for 70 working days. Subsequently, the Ashok Leyland management decided to hold union elections. Accordingly, the election was held on the 1st of last year. Advocate Katiravan acted as the Returning Officer. Kuselar team and Venkatraman team competed. A total of 1,608 workers were declared eligible to drive.
Out of that, 1,587 people voted. The votes were counted on the 2nd. Kuselar, who contested for the post of president, got 822 votes and Venkataraman got 693 votes. Thus, Kuseler won as the leader with an additional 129 votes.
Sakthivel as Secretary, Kumar as Treasurer, Rajesh Kumar, Dennis, Pureshathaman as Vice Presidents, Ravikiran, Rajaram and Ravikumar as Deputy Secretaries.
For Murugesan, who contested for the chairmanship alone, 52 votes and 20 votes were declared invalid.
