Luis Lacalle Poupresident of the Republic, and Yamandú Orsimayor of Canelones and presidential candidate, participated together in a business activity in the Progreso Industrial Pole.

During the event, the president confronted the representative of the Frente Amplio, who in recent weeks had expressed criticism of the government in relation to the case of the drug trafficker. Sebastian Marsetin addition to questioning Lacalle Pou’s position regarding the upcoming elections.

“We’re going to have to start talking better, huh. No, no, I’m serious. If you want to have a good relationship, try to take care of your manners,” said Lacalle Pou when greeting Orsi, according to videos published on social networks.

The right-wing president recommended to the Canarian mayor that he “slow down the tone a little.”

Orsi did not respond because “the paper was going to be bigger”

In a press conference that Orsi offered, after the aforementioned activity, he referred to the way in which Lacalle Pou spoke to him. “I am concerned about the president’s tone,” warned the Broad Front.

However, he said he agreed that “the tone must be lowered” and stressed that he did not respond to the president: “It was not appropriate, because the role was going to be bigger,” he noted.

When asked if Lacalle Pou’s comment was a response to his criticism regarding the case of drug trafficker Sebastián Marset, Orsi responded that he does not understand “why they bother him so much.”

“If I understand that I have to apologize, of course [que lo haré], but I don’t understand where the thing is coming from. “I ask for clarity,” she expressed.

The relationship with Lacalle, Orsi added, at the institutional level, is hardly “correct,” but “there is a personal issue that always exists, but it is good that it does not interfere with the health of the institutions.”

Orsi assured that Lacalle Pou “is campaigning” and stressed that “it is not that strange”: “I’m not horrified by it or offended by it.”

Orsi’s uncomfortable sayings about the government and Marset

On November 27, Orsi commented on the interview given by Uruguayan drug trafficker Sebastián Marset on Santo y Seña (Channel 4). During a press conference, the mayor was asked about the explanation that the criminal gave after the approval of his passport.

Orsi described Marset’s comments as “strange” and expressed his surprise when he noted that they coincide with the arguments presented by the Executive Branch.

The mayor of Canelones also made reference to Lacalle Pou: “I was struck by his attitude, of already understanding that he is in the campaign and already admitting it and asking ourselves what we are going to do.” These statements by Orsi arose after the president questioned, during a dinner organized by the Center for Development Studies, “what they are going to do with the social security reform approved by the government.”
