Chennai,

BJP workers staged a protest in Chennai yesterday condemning the lack of security during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Punjab and demanding the immediate resignation of the state’s first minister.

The BJP condemned the protest in Patna. National General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy, former Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan and Deputy Chief Minister VP Thuraisamy were among those who presided. Secretary General of the State Karu Nagarajan, Special Convener of the Executive Committee Khushbu and Chennai Zonal Election Officer Karate Thiagarajan were present.

Tarna on the road

Following the protest, BJP leaders led by Pon. Radhakrishnan, Sudhakar Reddy and VP Thuraisamy tried to march in peace to the Gandhi statue at the Chennai Marina. Detaining them then sparked a heated argument between Karate Thiagarajan and the police.

BJP workers staged a protest in Dharna when police refused to allow the procession. This caused great traffic congestion and unrest in the Pattinapakkam area. The BJP heard that the Tarna protest was taking place after the assembly. MLAs Nainar Nagendran, Vanathi Srinivasan and MR Gandhi immediately came there and took part in the struggle.

Leaders arrested

After that, the police led by the Joint Commissioner for about 10 hours, the BJP involved in the Tarna. Engaged in negotiations with the leaders. As there was no peace, the police arrested the BJP leaders, including the leaders. Khushbu, the special convener of the executive committee, said during the demonstration: –

Punjab Chief Minister says he does not know the way to Prime Minister Modi. This is a false excuse. The Prime Minister must be seen beyond the party. It seems that Congress is ready to step down at any cost it wants to be in power. Sonia Gandhi should definitely apologize for this incident.

Punjab First-Minister …

The Punjab First-Minister should resign from his post. The Prime Minister did not come to Tamil Nadu due to the corona spread. Tamil Nadu First Minister MK Stalin did not issue a statement condemning the Prime Minister’s lack of security. If there is a security issue for Stalin tomorrow we will give voice.

Thus he said.

All those arrested were lodged at a social welfare center in Mylapore and released in the evening. Later, people including Pon.Radhakrishnan paid floral tributes to the Gandhi statue at Marina Beach.
