Lady Gaga, who was photographed by paparazzi in Paris earlier this week, performed today at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in the French capital.

The singer performed the jazz composition “Mon Truc En Plumes” by Zizi Jeanmaret.

Renée Marcelle “Zizi” Jeanmaret was a French ballet dancer, actress and singer who rose to fame after performing the title role in the London ballet production of Carmen in 1949. She appeared in several Hollywood films, including the 1957 musical comedy Folies Bergère and the 1961 film Black Tights, alongside Cyd Charisse and Moira Shearer.

Celine Dion and Gaga have caused a stir on social media after being spotted in Paris this week, with many fans speculating that they will perform at the Olympic opening ceremony.

Olympic officials typically keep information about performers under wraps ahead of the ceremony.

French President Emmanuel Macron could not confirm or deny whether fellow star Celine Dion would appear at the opening ceremony, but said he would be “immensely happy” if she did.

“It looks like she has arrived in Paris, that’s great!” Macron told radio station Info France 2 on Tuesday. He told reporters on Wednesday: “It would be great news because she is a fantastic artist. I would be extremely happy if she could attend this opening ceremony, like all our compatriots,” he said on Wednesday.

The French-Canadian singer has not performed since learning in 2022 that she was diagnosed with “stiff person syndrome,” a rare neurological disorder.
