Good and less good news to give you the day after the premiere of The African, by Meyerbeer, at the Marseille Opera. For fifteen years, Maurice Xiberras has talentedly done what he can to keep the head of this house above water, which should be one of the first in France, but is struggling with an obsolete status and a long-deficient public commitment.
