Lakshmi, the elephant of the famous Manakula Vinayagar temple in Puducherry, fainted and died yesterday morning while walking on the street of Kamatsiyamman temple. The death of Lakshmi the elephant, who was loved by the people of Puducherry, has left the people of Puducherry deeply saddened. At the place where the elephant Lakshmi was buried and on the Kamatshyamman temple road where the elephant died, the public and devotees are paying their respects by lighting lamps and sprinkling flowers.
In this case, at the place where the elephant Lakshmi died, the devotees and the public from Puducherry erected a 3-feet tall elephant statue named “Puduwai’s darling daughter” on Kamatshyamman temple road and worshiped it.
