Lamborghini LB744: Aventador successor will have 1,015 horses

by time news

Lamborghini prepares the successor to the Aventador, but it will not be purely combustion, although the immense V12 6.5 will continue to exist, assuming a plug-in hybrid set.

Known as LB744, the new car will have a system called HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle), which will reduce CO² emissions by 30% compared to the Aventador.

The V12 that will work with the HPEV system will not be the L539, but the new L545, an evolution of the same with 218 kg, 17 kg less than the previous one.

The L545 will deliver 825 horsepower at 9,500 rpm with 73.7 kgfm at 6,750 rpm, thus being the most powerful V12 in Lamborghini history.

Contrary to what many people think, the V12 L539 and its predecessor have always been placed inverted in Lamborghini cars, considering their central position.

In this case, it will be the first time that the V12 rotates 180 degrees and will have a gearbox actually mounted at the rear of the car.

By the way, this eight-speed dual-clutch transmission will be transversely mounted on the LB744, in an arrangement reminiscent of current Formula 1 cars.

The change was made for Lamborghini to have space in the tunnel for the lithium batteries, also throwing back the electric motor and its command block.

With the compression ratio increased to 12.6:1, the V12 L545 has redesigned air intake ducts to increase air supply and ensure optimal airflow in the combustion chamber.

Another point is that the exhaust fluid dynamics have been improved to reduce back pressure at high revs and increase specific power.

About the electric motors, yes there are three, Lamborghini revealed that the rear one has 150 horsepower and 15.2 kgfm, while two front units deliver 150 horsepower and 35.7 kgfm.

With 1,015 combined horses, already considering the losses of the set, the Lamborghini LB744 will have all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.

Despite its size, the battery has only 3.8 kWh, enough for a 30-minute quick charge on a 7 kW charger, but no range revealed.
