AEK comfortably passed Lamia, which without much difficulty won 4-0 against Leonidas Vokolou’s team for the premiere of the Super League playoffs. The Union dominated the whole match, conceded the first final in the 81st minute and got an easy three points that temporarily brought them to the top of the standings, waiting for the derbies.
How did they start?
Stankovic was in goal for AEK with Rota, Vida, Cullens and Pelios four in defense and Szymanski, Jonson duo in the axis after some time. Eliasson was on the right of attack, Pineda on the left and Mandalos behind Ponce.
For Lamia, Koselev was in goal, with Sidkley, Janetopoulos, Cornezo and Simon four in defense, Jandari, Stanko and Nunes in the center of the midfield, Amaral and Slivka on both sides and Malchi in attack.
AEK, one-goal, found the solution from the stoppers
The first half was the absolute monologue for AEK who had 15-0 finals and 11-0 corners. But the goal came in the last final of the Union, in the last phase of the first part. Mandalos took a foul, Ponce made the projection, Koselev saved, but the ball stayed in front of him and Cullens pushed it into the net at 45+2′.
Earlier, the “yellow and black” had come close to the goal many times, mainly with Ponce who failed to beat Koselef on at least three occasions, while in the 16th minute, Eliasson’s shot from a pass by Mandal went wide.
Ponce “locked” it
In the second half, AEK was again in complete control, but not with the same aggression and had difficulty creating chances. In the 48th minute, Pineda missed from a good position in the area and in the next opportunity Union found the net.
Rota executed a cross for Ponce who with a crazy shot in motion sent the ball into the net for 0-2 effectively ending the match. This was the Argentinian forward’s 12th goal in the league and for a few minutes it put him in the top scorer position in the Union.
The “paintings” of Levi
Just a few minutes later Levi Garcia entered the match and managed to score two amazing goals. In the 88′ with a terrible thunderbolt outside the area for 0-3 and in the last phase of the match with a place inside the area after a nice individual effort for the final 0-4. So the ace from Trinidad and Tobago reached 13 goals in the Super League.
