by time news
Lamia passed through Agrinio victoriously in the match that marked the “curtain fall” of the Super League opener, thanks to Anestis Vlachomitros’ header goal in the 65th minute.

Panetolikos was left with 10 players from the 13th minute after Christos Sihelis was sent off for a foul tackle on Vlachomitros, while Lamia also finished the match with ten players after Gkinto received a second yellow card for hitting Pantelakis with his studs.

The hosts scored two goals, but both were disallowed for offside in the first half. In the 87th minute, they were awarded a penalty due to a handball by Kornezos inside the area, with Sergio Dias missing the chance to gift his team one point by sending the ball to the left post of Kostits. This is Lamia’s first victory in a Super League opener.

In the 10th minute, Torrejon sent the ball into the net, but he was offside and the goal was rightly disallowed for Panetolikos. Three minutes later, however, the hosts were reduced to 10 players. Specifically, after consulting VAR, Sihelis was sent off with a red card for a tackle outside the area on Anestis Vlachomitros. Taking advantage of their numerical superiority, Lamia performed better on the field but could not open the score.

In the 33rd minute, the Agrinio team had the chance to take the lead after a mistake by Giannoutsos when Lomonako went one-on-one with Kostits, but the Serbian goalkeeper stopped him. A yellow card was shown to Chaves and Andrade in the 36th minute after a confrontation between them. And in the stoppage time of the first half, Panetolikos scored with Lomonako with a bicycle kick after a corner taken by Bouzouki and a header from Torrejon, but the assistant raised the flag for offside. The play was reviewed by VAR and the goal was disallowed.

With two substitutions, Lamia entered the second half as Randonia and Gkinto replaced Dedakis and Athanassakopoulos. Lamia was looking for a goal and found it in the 65th minute. Furtado made the cross from the right, the ball hit a Panetolikos defender, Vlachomitros was favored by the deflection and sent the ball into the net with a nice header. Panetolikos did everything it could to equalize, only to see its opponent also reduced to 10 players in the 82nd minute. Gkinto did not find the ball but badly hit Pantelakis with his studs and was sent off with a second yellow. And in the 87th minute, Kornezos handled the ball in the area and the referee awarded a penalty. However, although Sergio Dias deceived Kostits, he sent the ball to the left post, resulting in a missed great opportunity for the hosts to equalize.
