Lamine Yamal made history this Sunday (14), at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany, when he defended Spain in the Euro 2024 final against England. At 17 years and just 1 day old, the Barcelona jewel was the youngest athlete to play in a final in the continental competition.

The striker celebrated his birthday the day before the final. To achieve the feat, Yamal surpassed Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches, who played and was the hero in the 2016 decider. At the time, he was 18 years and 328 days old.

However, Lamine Yamal did not break the record for the youngest to find the net in a Euro decider. The brand therefore continues with the Italian Pietro Anastasi, who scored in the second game of the 1968 final against the former Yugoslavia, at the age of 20 years and 64 days.

Although he is very young, the striker was one of Fúria’s highlights in the Eurocup. After all, he found the net once and provided four assists in this edition of the Euros.

The latter, in fact, resulted in a goal from Nico Williams, which paved the way for a 2-1 win over the English and Spain’s fourth title.
