Landed in Israel: Mercedes’ electric flagship

by time news

Colmobil has launched the new Mercedes flagship car, EQS, in Israel. The car was developed on the basis of a dedicated electric platform and is stretched 5.2 m long and 1.92 m wide and stands on a wheelbase 3.21 m long. It has a raised rear door and a trunk with a volume of 610 liters, larger than that of the S-Class petrol.

In Israel, the car is initially marketed in two propulsion versions. The EQS 450 version is equipped with a rear electric motor with a power of 330 hp and jumps from zero to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. With a battery with a gross capacity of about 120 kilowatt-hours (gross) – the largest capacity in a serial vehicle today – the vehicle is capable of achieving a range of up to 700 km in WLTP standard.

The second version, the EQS 580, is equipped with an additional engine with a total power of 523 hp that produces dual propulsion. It is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds and with the same battery achieves a range of up to about 627 km / h.

The cabin features a futuristic design, which includes a personal screen for each of the seats and a command system consisting of a sequence of display screens behind a uniform glass panel. Air suspension is standard and so is an advanced audio system, all-wheel steering, 21-inch rims and more.

In the safety department the car comes with hardware, which will allow in the future, when regulation allows, autonomous driving without the intervention of the driver on defined routes. It includes, among other things, a front LIDAR sensor and a battery of peripheral sensors.

Prices start at about NIS 890,000 for the 450 model and reach up to about 1.39 million for the top version of the 580 model. The car already has a number of orders in Israel and the company estimates that sales in the first year will reach about 100 units, subject to stock availability.
