The largest point of presence in Greece, with charging infrastructure, is planned to be developed in the Hellinikon area by the Chinese multinational electric and plug-in hybrid car manufacturing industry BYD, which announced, last night, in Zappeio, its collaboration with the Sfakianakis group.

As mentioned by Christian Oliver Taki, member of the d.s. of the group that is BYD’s official distributor, in Elliniko, the company will create, on an area of ​​3,500 square meters, the largest sales and after-sales service center, which will include fast charging stations for its customers. “Our flagship will be on the doorstep of the largest urban regeneration project in Europe, Elliniko. The first “smart” city of Greece is the perfect location for us, with the first phase of the masterplan (of Hellinikon) being gradually completed over the next three years,” he noted.

Yesterday Tuesday, BYD inaugurated its exhibition center at the intersection of Kifisias Avenue and Amarissias Artemidos in Maroussi. This will be followed, in a time horizon of two weeks, by the opening of another store of the company at the junction of Kifisos and Athens Avenues in Aigaleo, while, within the year, it is planned to create a total of six representative offices in four Greek cities.

“The decision to represent BYD in Greece is a proof of our commitment to environmental protection and innovation. We intend to establish a strong ecosystem for electrification that includes charging infrastructure and the integration of Renewable Energy Sources,” noted yesterday, the president and CEO of the Sfakianaki group, Stavros Takis. “There should be incentives to retire the aging fleet, which is the largest in Europe,” added Mr. Taki, commenting on the prospects of electrification in Greece.

“Greece is the first country where we started operating this year. We have announced that we will build (s.s.: in Hungary) our first factory in Europe, seeking to strengthen our contribution to electric mobility,” BYD General Manager Europe Michael Su noted yesterday.

The company currently has for sale the Atto3, an SUV (with a length of 4.45 meters) and the Seal, a four-door sedan with a length of 4.8 meters. The price of the comfort and design versions of the Atto 3 starts from 37,990 euros and 39,990 euros respectively, while the Design and Excellence AWD models of the SEAL are sold from 45,990 and 48,990 euros. In the near future, BYD will strengthen its Greek product portfolio with the HAN, TANG, Dolphin and Seal U models.

Founded in 2003, BYD will surpass Tesla in sales (3 million) in 2023, is expanding rapidly in Europe, with a presence in 20 countries. Last year alone it opened 148 stores, totaling 251. In Malta last November, the Chinese multinational took first place in pure electric vehicle (BEV) sales. In Austria, it made 1,000 sales in its first year of presence in the country. In Greece, the company, aiming to attract new customers, offers three years of free maintenance for orders placed by the end of the year.
