Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least 48 places in the central Leyte province on Friday, with at least 48 people dead. Later, authorities reported three deaths in rain-related incidents in the southern provinces of Davao de Oro and the Davao Oriental.
As many as 224 people have been killed so far in landslides and floods due to the rising death toll.
In addition, the government has been unable to retrieve the bodies of those trapped in the landslides as rescue operations for the flood victims are in full swing.
