Landslide in Jilotzingo traps 12 people; one baby died

A landslide in the San Luis Ayucan hillin the municipality of JilotzingoEdomex, caused that 12 people will be trapped and one baby died.

During the evening of Friday, September 13, heavy rains caused the hill to collapse, dragging with it – along with earth, mud and stones – at least 8 houses that were on the slope.

In its latest report, the General Coordination of Civil Risk Protection of the State of Mexico detailed that after the landslide, 12 people were left under the rubble. Meanwhile, one person was reported dead; it is a three-month-old baby.

Also, on Saturday, the state Civil Protection mentioned that during the search efforts “three people were rescued, who were transferred to the Lomas Verdes Hospital.”

Also present at the scene are elements of the State Security Secretariat (SSEM), the Navy (Semar), the National Defense (Sedena), as well as personnel from the National Guard, the Red Cross and canine teams, who are supporting the search and rescue efforts.

For her part, the municipal president of Jilotzingo, Ana Teresa Casas González, shared on her social networks a list of people sheltered in the church of San Luis Ayucan and the House of Rodolfo Martínez.

Meanwhile, medical care modules were installed at the San Luis Ayucan command center to provide care to local residents who need it. Food supplies are also being received at the site to help those who lost their belongings in the landslide.
