Larger forest fire in Tyrol will continue to be fought

The forest fire in Pinswang (Reutte district) also put intense demands on the fire brigades on Sunday. After the fire broke out on Saturday afternoon for an unknown reason, the extinguishing work continued since Sunday morning. During the night, due to the strong wind, the embers were rekindled, the police said to the APA.

The forest fire in Tyrol has been challenging the emergency services since Saturday

“We have a visible flame formation of 300 meters. It is also difficult to estimate whether we can get the fire under control today,” said fire brigade inspector Konrad Müller to ORF Tirol. He does not assume that “Brand Aus” can still be given on Sunday. Five firefighting helicopters have been flying over the area since Sunday morning. Around 35 hectares are still affected.

On Saturday, a firefighter had to be admitted to the Reutte district hospital with suspected smoke poisoning. The fire broke out near the German state border northeast of Unterpinswang. The extinguishing work is difficult because the fire is raging in the steep and rocky terrain.
