Larger New Year’s Eve parties are only permitted until 10 p.m.

by time news

New Year’s Eve parties around the clock are only allowed on a small scale this year – up to ten people. Because the curfew at 10 p.m. also applies to private gatherings of more than ten people – including those who have been vaccinated. As already announced, several unvaccinated people may exceptionally come together at the turn of the year: This New Year’s Eve exception will be decided on Thursday in the main committee with the current amendment to the Corona Protective Measures Ordinance.

The government has already announced the exception for the unvaccinated (who are still in lockdown). An ordinance now stipulates that the exit restrictions for this group of people will be lifted on December 31 and January 1. However, even on the last day of the year, people without 2G proof are not allowed to go into the restaurant: The 2G regulations for gastronomy and co. Also apply to New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Eve, different regulations will apply to the unvaccinated and the vaccinated / convalescent. While unvaccinated people are allowed to get together as an exception, up to 25 people are allowed to meet up to 10 p.m. for people with 2G proof (as is usually the case). From 10 p.m., however, everyone is limited to ten people. With the exception of “annual celebrations on a small scale” should be made possible in the “legal justification” of the draft regulation available to the APA. On the other hand, it is intended to limit the risk of infection as much as possible by minimizing risk factors such as “nocturnal risk behavior, large numbers of people coming together”.

Aside from New Year’s Eve, the lockdown and thus the exit restrictions apply to unvaccinated people. Meetings are only permitted to a limited extent for these people. In principle, for those without 2G proof, several people in one household are only allowed to meet individuals in another household.

As before, the restrictions also apply to those who have been vaccinated or recovered: Meetings of up to 25 people are allowed between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. (more people are allowed for meetings or events with seat allocation or other conditions such as the submission of a negative test result permissible). From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., the regulation is stricter: Then a maximum of four adults vaccinated from different households can meet, plus six children who are subject to supervision, affirmed the Ministry of Health in response to a request from the APA.

The “curfew” at 10 p.m. does not only apply to the catering trade, but also in terms of the number of people in the private sector – although in the private sector, as before, the police are only not allowed to control because of a possible violation of the Corona rules. However, if police officers intervene because of a reported disturbance of the peace, they can also check whether the corona protective measures are being adhered to. With this regulation – that also the private sector is included – a circumvention of the curfew regulations (for example by “private celebrations” in a pub or a large “private celebration” in a rented event hall) is to be prevented.
