This week, conscripts showed what they have learned during their training over the past six months at the military training area in Allentsteig in the Waldviertel. Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner convinced herself of the soldiers’ skills.
In the course of the exercise, the operational readiness and the interaction of the armed forces in an international network were practiced. The conscripts of the January 2023 enlistment date of the 7th Jägerbrigade came together. The exercise is considered to be the Armed Forces’ largest training project in 2023. After the official welcome and briefing on the procedure, the combat exercise began in the field. As soon as the young soldiers have completed their six-week basic military service with the Austrian Armed Forces, they can continue to work in the army. And some of them also do this, which Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner is particularly pleased about: “We need every single one of them!” 1,600 soldiers in actionThe largest army exercise of the year takes place at the Allentsteig military training area and at two other locations, at the Seetaler Alpe military training area in Styria and the Bruckneudorf military training area in Burgenland. A total of 1600 soldiers are deployed. Practice will continue until June 23rd.
