For many, the fiction series that Antena 3 aired in the 2000s became cult series, something that producers are knowing how to take advantage of, and if you doubt it, with “FoQ: El reencuentro” you already have an example, and now the same will happen with “El Internado”.
In December, Amazon Prime Video shared the trailer for this new production based on that series, which will be called “El Internado: Las Cumbres” this time, and today it confirmed the release date, next February 19 in the more than 200 countries that are present on the platform.
The first season has eight episodes, and if you’re curious, you can check out the company’s Twitter account, which has shared a thread with several posters featuring the new characters and a series of phrases cut from the same cloth: “Will you dare to disobey?”, “Will you dare to investigate?”, “Will you dare to assert yourself?” or “Will you dare to play?”
Among the characters in this cast are Mina El Hammani, Ramiro Blas, Claudia Riera and Asier Ortega, who will play a new generation of rebellious students eager to solve mysteries, in this series developed by Laura Belloso, one of those responsible for the original.
On this occasion, the Laguna Negra centre will be replaced in the series by the Las Cumbres boarding school, located next to an old monastery, which will be key to the new plot to be developed and which is located in an inaccessible place between the mountains, completely isolated from the world.
There, the rebellious and problematic students must live under the strict and severe discipline imposed by the center that prepares them for reintegration into society, while the surrounding forest, surrounded by ancient legends and threats, will immerse them in terrifying adventures.
The series is a production by The Mediapro Studio and Atresmedia Studios (Buendia Studios). In addition to Belloso, executive producers include Laura Fernández Espeso and Javier Pons from The Mediapro Studio, and Ignacio Corrales and Sonia Martínez from Atresmedia Studios.
The team of scriptwriters is made up of Asier Andueza, co-creator of this new installment along with Laura Belloso, Sara Belloso and Abraham Sastre, who also participated in the scripts of the original version.
Fans of the series are waiting for this reboot of “El Internado”, which between 2007 and 2010 had many waiting for performances such as Amparo Baró, Luis Merlo and of course, the now famous Ana de Armas.
