Lasse Eriksson, 67, Discovers Giant Rhubarb in His Garden – A Marvelous Mystery!

by time news

Hobby grower Lasse Eriksson, 67, made an incredible discovery in his garden in Höghult, Karlsborg municipality. After ten years of growing various vegetables, Lasse was amazed to find a giant rhubarb plant flourishing behind his house.

Lasse had been focusing on growing chillies, tomatoes, cucumbers, and cabbage this summer, and rhubarb had been somewhat forgotten. It was actually Lasse’s grandson who stumbled upon the massive leaves of the rhubarb plant and alerted his grandpa. Astonished, Lasse ran out into the garden to see for himself.

“I was so surprised. I didn’t think it was true. The leaves are so big that you could sit under them without getting wet on a rainy day, like an umbrella,” Lasse exclaimed.

The rhubarb plant had been planted a year ago but was only discovered this week. Lasse decided to measure the largest leaf, which turned out to be a whopping 130 by 110 centimeters, with a stem measuring almost 5 centimeters. Lasse had never seen such large leaves before, and social media is abuzz with comments about the astonishing size of the rhubarb leaves.

Now that the plants have been harvested, Lasse plans to use the rhubarb in various recipes. “You can do a lot with rhubarb. The traditional options include cream and pie, but at my house, we also make a lot of cream and marmalade,” Lasse shared.

When asked about the secret behind the enormous leaves, Lasse admitted, “I’ll be honest, I don’t know how it got like this. I don’t even know what kind of rhubarb I grew. But it’s fun that they got so big, and the cream turned out very good.”

Lasse Eriksson’s giant rhubarb has become a local sensation, showcasing nature’s unexpected surprises and reminding us of the wonders that can be found right in our own backyards.
