Last-Minute Heroics: Hélio Varela Secures First Pre-Season Win for Portimonense

by time news

A goal from Cape Verdean winger Hélio Varela, in the 90+3 minutes, was enough for the Algarve team to secure their first pre-season victory, after two draws and two losses.

Portimonense, coached by Sérgio Vieira, lined up with Vinicius Silvestre, Kelechi, Feliciano, Filipe Relvas, Cláudio, Lucas Ventura, Davis, Seck, Francisco Varela, Rui Gomes, and Reymundo.

In Al Nassr, still without Cristiano Ronaldo, who continues to enjoy his holiday after the European Championship, Portuguese international Otávio started on the bench and was an option in the second half.

Luís Castro’s team, which is training in the Algarve until the end of the month, will support FC Porto’s presentation to their fans on Sunday at 18:30 at the Estádio do Dragão.

Portimonense will close the first round of the II Liga on August 12, Monday, at 18:00, with a match at the home of newly promoted Felgueiras.
