Francos, about the meeting of the members of the football federation: “Let’s hope they are up to the task”
The director of the Higher Sports Council, Víctor Francos, has spoken about the meeting that the Royal Spanish Football Federation is holding to discuss the new situation in which it finds itself after the suspension by FIFA of the president, Luis Rubiales. “Let’s hope that they live up to what society and Spanish football demand”, he stated. “What the Spanish society expects from the soccer federation is that it does not return to give the show last Friday.”
Francos has appeared at a press conference in which he planned to report on the resolution of the Administrative Court of Sports (TAD) regarding the complaint filed by the Government against Rubiales. “We still do not have information on the resolution of the TAD. We are awaiting your information. We continue to think that our complaint has all the legal grounds for it to be treated as a very serious offense. At the time that the TAD determines that it is so, we would activate our mechanisms”, explained Francos.
Asked if he considers that the coach of the men’s team, Luis de la Fuente; and the one from the women’s team, Jorge Vilda; should resign after applauding Rubiales’ speech in the assembly last Friday, Francos has defended that the selectors “have to make their own decisions, about that assembly and about their attitude in it.”
