The tower reported that it would not be possible to land

On Tuesday morning (14), an Airbus plane from the company Latam, which took off from Guarulhos airport, in São Paulo, and was heading to São José do Rio Preto, in the interior of São Paulo, almost landed on an unsuitable runway.

The aircraft, by mistake, began the landing process in the city of Catanduva, a runway that is not capable of receiving the landing of a plane the size of an Airbus. The landing, however, was promptly aborted, avoiding the tragedy.

When close to landing, the control tower alerted the pilots that the airport they were seeing in the cockpit and approaching was the city of Catanduva, not São José do Rio Preto.

The Airbus commanders were about 300 meters above the ground, quickly reaching the runway, when they had to launch the aircraft. The Catanduva runway is 935 meters long, less than adequate for planes the size of an Airbus. The A320 manual also highlights that the minimum recommended width would be 30 meters.

If it landed, it could have resulted in a major accident due to the loss of control of the aircraft.

The flight arrived safely in São José do Rio Preto, at 9:28 am.
