Valencia (dpa) – A late double strike gave Real Madrid victory in the top game of the Spanish soccer league. The record champions won 2-1 (0-0) at Valencia CF and now leads the Primera División with 13 points.
An unsustainable deflected shot by Vinicius Junior in the 86th minute and Karim Benzema’s shoulder three minutes later ensured the lucky success. For Valencia, which is still third with ten points, Hugo Duro’s lead (66th) was not enough.
Second in the table after the fifth matchday is defending champion Atlético Madrid with eleven points. FC Barcelona, who have only played three games, can move up to the top group on Monday with a home win against FC Granada and then ten points.
