Late Heroics: Palmeiras Snatches Draw Against Flamengo in Thrilling Brasileirão Clash

by time news

Palmeiras, guided by Abel Ferreira, managed to secure a late equalizer at Flamengo’s home this Sunday (1-1). An exciting Brasileirão match, counting for the 22nd round.

Right from the first minute, Everton Cebolinha missed a clear goal-scoring opportunity. The same Cebolinha, former Benfica player, was substituted just nine minutes in due to injury.

At 16 minutes, Pedro hit the crossbar of Palmeiras’ goal with a header. Defender José Manuel Lopez scored for Palmeiras at 37 minutes, also with a header, following an indirect free kick, but the goal was later ruled out for offside.

It was only in the second half, at 68 minutes, that the scoreboard was finally changed, with a goal from De Arrascaeta, in a fortuitous play. A deflection off a defender deceived the Palmeiras goalkeeper and put Flamengo ahead.

However, the young forward Luighi, only 18 years old, managed to score the equalizer with a header at 86 minutes, causing great celebration for Abel Ferreira and his coaching staff.

After the 22nd round, Flamengo is in third place with 41 points, the same as Botafogo, coached by Artur Jorge, despite having one game less. Palmeiras occupies fourth place with 38 points.
