In conjunction with the ongoing war on Gaza for the 284th consecutive day, the Israeli army continued its incursions into the West Bank. What are the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank?

West Bank Developments

A young Palestinian man was killed at dawn on Tuesday by Israeli forces in the city of Al-Bireh in the West Bank.

Wafa News Agency reported that the young man, Ahmed Ramzi Abdul Sultan, aged 20, was killed after being shot with live ammunition at the Balou’ roundabout north of the city of Al-Bireh during the clashes that erupted after the storming of the city.

The sources indicated that “the Israeli forces detained the young man’s body for several hours before handing it over to the ambulance crews.”

In this context, the European Union announced “the imposition of sanctions on five individuals and three Israeli entities, who it said were responsible for “serious and systematic human rights violations” against Palestinians in the West Bank.”

According to the EU statement, “The list includes the Tsav 9 group, which it said regularly blocked the way for humanitarian aid trucks carrying food, water and fuel to the Gaza Strip. Also on the list are Ben-Zion Gopstein, founder and leader of the Lehava organization, and Issachar Mann, founder of an unauthorized settlement outpost in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.”

Israel has killed more than 453 Palestinians in the West Bank and arrested more than 7,820 since October 7th in the West Bank (the date the war on Gaza began).

Developments in the situation in Gaza

The Israeli army continued its military operations and its land, air and sea attacks on the Gaza Strip.

In Khan Yunis, paramedics recovered 4 dead and 3 wounded from a house that was targeted by an Israeli airstrike in the town of Abasan, east of the city. In Rafah, south of the Strip, 4 dead people arrived from the Khirbet al-Adas area in Rafah to Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. The Israeli army also blew up residential blocks west of Rafah.

In Gaza City, ambulance crews recovered the body of a dead person and a number of wounded people after a warplane targeted a house belonging to the Zaqouq family in the Nuseirat camp in the middle of the Strip, and another dead person and two wounded people after targeting a residential apartment in Al-Nafaq Street in the city.

17 Palestinians, including 5 children, were also killed in Israeli raids that targeted 3 homes in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

In this regard, the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Minister Riyad Mansour, said that “famine in the Gaza Strip is no longer looming on the horizon, but has become a terrifying reality.”

In addition, the American newspaper, The New York Times, revealed that “Israel and Egypt privately discussed a possible withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza border with Egypt as part of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas.”

The newspaper quoted Israeli officials and a senior Western diplomat as saying, “Israel’s willingness to do so could remove one of the main obstacles to a truce with Hamas, which has said that Israel’s withdrawal from areas including the border is a prerequisite for a ceasefire.”

The number of people killed in the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip has risen to more than 38,664 dead and 89,097 wounded.
