Latest Layoff News, Samsung Will Lay Off Its Employees Overseas

jpnn.com – Bad news has come from Samsung Electronics, which plans to lay off up to 30 percent of its overseas employees.

A number of Samsung’s overseas subsidiaries have been instructed to reduce sales and marketing staff by around 15 percent and administrative staff by up to 30 percent by the end of this year.

The global layoff plan will impact jobs across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.

“The plan aims to improve efficiency and will not impact its production staff,” Samsung said in a statement.

The South Korean tech company had 267,800 employees as of the end of 2023, with 147,000 of its employees based overseas.

Most Samsung employees work in manufacturing and development.

Sales and marketing staff number around 25,100 people, while 27,800 employees work in other areas. (reuters/ant/jpnn)
