Likud Faces Decline as Benny Gantz’s Popularity Soars, New Poll Shows

A recent poll conducted by ‘Lazar Studies’ in collaboration with Panel4All and published on the ‘Maariv’ website reveals a significant shift in the political landscape of Israel. The Likud, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, is experiencing a collapse in support, while Benny Gantz’s popularity is reaching unprecedented heights.

The survey, headed by Dr. Menachem Lazar, showcases remarkable figures that indicate a momentous transformation in the Israeli political scene. The Likud party, once dominant in the country’s politics, now garners only 18 mandates, a record low since 2015 after the ‘Tzuk Eitan’ operation. In stark contrast, Gantz’s state camp receives a staggering 40 mandates, almost twice that of the Likud.

The poll also provides a breakdown of support for other political parties. Yesh Atid secures 15 mandates, Shas with 8, Torah Judaism and Israel Beitno with 7 each, and Meretz with 6. Otzma Yehudit and Religious Zionism also boast 5 mandates each. Hadash Ta’al is awarded 5 mandates, while Prime Minister holds 4. The Labor Party and the Labor Party, unfortunately, fail to reach the percentage required for representation.

In terms of the division into blocs, the coalition holds 43 mandates, while the opposition significantly outweighs it with 77 mandates. This indicates a shift in power dynamics and potential challenges for Netanyahu as he tries to retain his position as prime minister.

One striking aspect of the survey is the question of suitability for the Prime Ministership. An overwhelming majority, 48%, believes that Benny Gantz is the most suitable candidate for the role, while only 28% think Netanyahu deserves it. A considerable portion, 23%, remains undecided.

These findings provide a glimpse into the current sentiment among the Israeli public. The declining support for Likud and Netanyahu highlights the growing appeal of Benny Gantz, who is gaining traction as a potential leader. As the elections draw closer, it remains to be seen how these shifting dynamics will influence the outcome and shape the future of Israeli politics.
