Ángel Guerra participated in the fight against the Batista dictatorship and, after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, he held various functions in the National Revolutionary Militias and the Communist Party of Cuba. He was director of the newspaper Juventud Rebelde (1968-1971), of the magazine Bohemia (1971-1980) and of other Cuban publications.
