Latin American transactions decrease by 29%

The transactional market in Latin America has registered until the third quarter of 2023 a total of 2,287 mergers and acquisitions, between announced and closed, for an aggregate amount of 55,268 million dollars (52,024 million euros), which represents a decrease of 19 % in the number of transactions and a 29% reduction in their value, compared to the figures recorded in the third quarter of 2022.

According to the most recent report from TTR Data, a total of 120 transactions of Private Equity, of which 28 have an aggregate non-confidential amount of 4,073 million dollars (3,832 million euros). This represents a 21% decrease in the number of transactions and a 47% decrease in their amount, compared to the same period in 2022.

Regarding the segment of Venture Capital648 transactions have been carried out, of which 485 have an aggregate non-confidential amount of 4,068 million dollars (3,827 million euros), which is equivalent to 34% fewer operations and a 43% drop in capital mobilized, in interannual terms.

By number of transactions, Brazil led the ranking of the most active countries in the region with 1,425 deals (28% less) and a 33% decrease in mobilized capital, remaining at 31,853 million dollars (29,973 million euros).

For the first time in the last five years, Chile is in second place, displacing Mexico, with 266 transactions (9% increase), although it mobilizes 14% less capital, up to 7,395 million dollars (6,958 million euros). .

Mexico follows on the list, with 256 transactions (decrease of 24%), Colombia continues the ranking, with 179 transactions (decrease of 19%). Argentina, for its part, drops in the ranking compared to the same period last year, with 149 transactions (1% less).

Meanwhile, the 92 transactions that occurred in Peru represent a decrease of 2% and an increase of 147% in their amount compared to the same period last year, reaching 4,760 million dollars (4,479 million euros).
