The National Armed Forces (NAF) of Latvia will receive the first Patria 6×6 armored vehicle of its own production. This was reported by the Latvian television company LSM, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

According to her, the official ceremony of handing over the vehicle will take place on August 5 at the military base in Adazi. The Minister of Defense of the Baltic Republic Andris Spruds called the production of such full-cycle equipment “an important step in the development of the country’s military-industrial industry.” According to him, such projects in this area have not been implemented since the early 1990s. It is planned to produce 30 Patria armored vehicles annually.

The production of Patria in the republic is carried out by the company Defence Partnership Latvia, which belongs to SIA Patria Latvia (the owner of this company is Patria ISP, registered in Finland) and SIA Unitruck.

In 2019, Finland and Latvia initiated the Common Armored Vehicles System (CAVS) program to introduce a modern armored vehicle system, which also includes Sweden and Germany. The Patria SUV was chosen as the vehicle platform. In August 2021, Latvia ordered 200 six-wheeled APCs under the CAVS, the first of which were received at the end of October of the same year. Deliveries of this type of equipment to Riga are scheduled to be completed in 2029.
