In the first round of the playoffs, Latvia defeated the Philippines 14:3 (4:1, 5:0, 5:2).
Morics Krūmiņš and Kārlis Stukāns were the top scorers in the Latvian national team with three scored goals or “hat trick”
In the opening of the match, Latvians scored three goals in the first ten minutes, beating the opponent’s goalkeeper twice and Joren Malkavas once. The Filipinos recovered one goal in a counterattack,but two minutes later Jānis Ragovskis restored Latvia’s three-goal lead.
In the second period, after less than seven minutes of play, Jēkabs Keiš scored 5-1, but in the continuation of the third period, stukāns, Ralfs Matīss Balodis, Markuss Dumpis, krūmiņš sent the ball into the opponent’s goal.
Stukāns scored two goals in the third period,while Dumpis,Matīss Celms and Klāvs Jansons beat the Filipino goalkeeper.
Latvian floorball players will fight against Switzerland in the quarterfinals on Friday.
the Latvian national team lost 3:4 to Finland in the battles for the first eight in group B games, lost 2:13 to the current champions and hosts of the tournament Sweden and played 4:4 with Slovakia, taking the third place in the group.
Sweden and Finland secured the first two places in the group and entered the quarterfinals, while the third and fourth place holders Latvia and Slovakia will fight against the teams of Group C – the Philippines and Estonia, respectively – to enter the quarterfinals.
The Philippines played in Group C in the second round of the world ranking, beating Australia 6-2, losing to Estonia 5-6 and beating Canada 4-3. In the group, the Philippines took second place behind Estonia.
the World Championship in Malmö will take place until December 15.
