Latvian Singer Intars Busulis Releases New Album Deg Mans Ugunskurs

Latvian singer Intars Busulis released his album Deg mans ugunskurs on October 21, and announced a 2027 tour across Latvia, featuring collaborations with musicians like Kārlis Lācis and Vineta Lāce.

Latvian musician Intars Busulis unveiled his new album Deg mans ugunskurs on October 21, marking his return after a three-year hiatus. The project features 10 tracks, with music composed by Intars Busulis and Kārlis Lācis, and lyrics contributed by Marts Pujāts, Kārlis Vērdiņš, Kate Elpo, and Kristaps Upenieks. A standout track, “Uguns, was co-composed by Busulis and Lācis, with Pujāts crafting its lyrics. The album emphasizes live instrumentation, a focus Busulis highlighted in statements to media:I am satisfied with what has been achieved and truly glad that live sound plays the most important role in the creation of the album. Together with Reinis, we came to the thought that we are returning to a time when the decisive factor was the interplay of musicians, vocal parts, and instrument arrangements, rather than the possibilities provided by computers,” he said, citing producer Reinis Sējāns. The album includes a song composed by Vineta Lāce with lyrics by Zinaīda Lazda. It was mixed by sound engineer Gatis Zaķis and mastered in France, with a vinyl edition featuring photography by Filips Šmits.

The album’s release coincided with the announcement of Busulis’ 2027 tour, scheduled for April and May. Concerts will take place in Cēsīs (April 3-4), Rēzekne (April 9-10), Liepāja (April 24-25), and Rīga on May 8, at Xiaomi Arena. Personal Moment at Launch Event

The album’s launch event on Wednesday, October 21, included a personal touch, as Busulis invited his wife, Inga, to join him for a dance. The moment was captured by the news outlet Delfi, which attended the album launch event. The event also featured his family, who had gathered. The album’s title track, “Uguns, was described by Busulis:The song speaks of a dark depression that presses us like a heavy iron pot. However, even in such moments, we can prevent the fire from dying and continue to keep it alive.”

Busulis’ focus on live sound reflects his collaboration with producer Reinis Sējāns, as noted in statements from the artist. The album’s vinyl release is accompanied by photographs whose author is Filips Šmits. Tickets for the 2027 concerts are available through the Biļešu paradīze network, with concerts taking place in Cēsīs, Rēzekne, Liepāja, and a grand tour finale expected on May 8 of next year in Rīga, at Xiaomi Arena.
