Latvia’s “Supernova 2024” Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Finals Results

Tonight at 21:10 the Latvian TV network, LTV, held the semi-finals of the pre-Eurovision “Supernova 2024”. The preview is used to select Latvia’s representatives for the Eurovision Song Contest starting in 2015.

15 artists competed for ten places in the final that will be held on February 10. 108 songs were submitted to the preliminary committee this year, and they were chosen by a team of judges that included representatives of the local music and television industry, in addition to experts from other countries.     Among the contestants who took part in the semi-finals are several familiar names:

    Agnese Rakovska: Represented Latvia in Eurovision 2017 as part of a band Tirana Park (Triana Park). The band won the Latvian prelims and represented Latvia with the song “Line” but finished 18th and last in the first semi-final.

    Alex Silvers: Competed in the Latvian preliminaries in 2019 with the song “Fireworks” and reached seventh place in the first semi-final.

    Katrīna Gupalo: Competed in the Latvian preliminaries in 2018 with the song “Intoxicating Caramel” and reached fifth place in the first semi-final.

    Dons (Dons): He competed in the Latvian preliminaries in 2010 with the song “My Religion Is Freedom” and in 2014 with the song “Pēdējā vēstule” – in both he finished in second place.

    band Garden lights (Sudden Lights), who won the Latvian Eurovision Song Contest, will represent Latvia at Eurovision 2023 with the song “Aijā” (“Relax”). Latvia did not qualify for the grand final after reaching 11th place in the first semi-final with 34 points – 3 points away from tenth place.

    This is the sixth time in a row that Latvia did not qualify for the finals, a negative record that it records with the streak of not qualifying between the years 2009-2014.

    Eurovision 2024: This will be Latvia’s 24th participation in Eurovision. Latvia joined the competition in 2000 and achieved its best performance at Eurovision 2002 after the singer Marie Ann Won first place with the song “I Wanna”.
