The launch ceremony of “Technical Guide” book organized by Sri Lanka Technical Service Association – Northern Province was held today at the Auditorium of the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat, Northern Province.
Honorable Governor of Northern Province BSM Charles was the chief guest of the event and Provincial Chief Secretary SM Saman Bandulasena was the special guest.
The Honorable Governor of Northern Province presented the first copy of the book to the Chief Secretary and delivered a special speech.
Planning is a very important subject in the fields of engineering and construction.
Due to lack of proper planning various challenges have to be faced. Lack of certainty regarding land ownership is seen as a major problem.
Ensuring land tenure and obtaining permission from the Divisional Secretary are essential. By this, unnecessary challenges can be avoided. Also, foresight is very important in disaster analysis.
Unnecessary accidents occur as constructions are carried out without any prior studies related to disaster management. Areas where constructions are carried out without proper planning are prone to flooding during monsoons.
It is important to carry out building constructions in a manner suitable for people’s use. More attention should be given to disaster management during planning. At the same time, the Honorable Governor also mentioned that attention should be paid to the interests of the users.
