36 spacecraft of the British company OneWeb, which are intended for the space communications system, will be launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on March 5, according to a statement by Roskosmos. Initially, the launch was scheduled for January, but its date was postponed “at the request of the customer,” the state corporation noted.

“In accordance with the launch schedule for 2022 approved by the Roscosmos state corporation, the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat upper stage and 36 OneWeb spacecraft from the Baikonur cosmodrome is scheduled for March 5, 2022. The launch has been postponed from January of this year at the request of the customer, ”said Roskosmos.

Delivery of OneWeb spacecraft from the manufacturing plant is scheduled for February 10.

OneWeb LEO satellites are designed to create a space communications system that provides high-speed Internet access anywhere on Earth. The launch on December 27 brought the number of OneWeb satellites in Earth’s orbit to 394.

In 2015, Roscosmos signed a contract with the French company Arianespace, which involves 21 commercial launches of 672 OneWeb satellites on Soyuz-2 launch vehicles.
