For more than fifty hours from Friday to Sunday, the participants will raise money for five groups that fight against inequality. In 2022, the event raised more than ten euros.
After a year’s break, ZEvent, the charity video game race on Twitch which brings together around thirty French streamers in Montpellier and around a hundred online, returns on Wednesday with a special concert launching its 8th edition. With Caravan Palace, Deluxe and Mosimann headlining, as well as Littlebigwhale and PV Nova, the show at Zénith de Montpellier marks the start of this streaming weekend.
For more than fifty hours from Friday to Sunday, participants will raise money for five groups that fight against precariousness, including Secours Populaire, Bureaux du cœur and Solidarité Paysans, in conjunction with the Fondation de France.
ZEvent averages between 500,000 and 1 million viewers. He broke his own record in 2022 by raising more than ten euros for the benefit of environmental groups. He counted in his positions this year streams like Antoine Daniel, Baghera Jones and Ultia, the host of the talk show. Popcorn Domingo or even the host Samuel Étienne.
In the wake of a telethon
The novelty of this edition is the participation of hundreds of other online streams – showing the hundred streams with the most hours watched last year, according to the organization – who will be able to contribute to the pool a common game.
“The ultimate goal is that everyone can participate, a bit like a Telethon”explained to AFP Adrien Nougaret, nicknamed ZeratoR, co-organizer of the event with his right hand Alexandre Dachary. He hopes to open up ZEvent next year to all streams of his choice.
However, numerous criticisms have appeared on the X social network about certain profiles selected among the 100, mainly those who are accused of having made inappropriate comments. “I never underestimate what people can say”under ZeratorR. If you admit that “It is very difficult to judge, to set the limit”he begged for it “right to redemption”.
The ZEvent has taken a break in 2023 to give its creators a comparative perspective “polarization of social networks” but also the pressure to do it “always more, always stronger”according to its founder.
