Official launch of the spraying, fertilization and coffee plantation campaign on Kayove hill in Rutana
Burunga (Rutana), December 8, 2023 – In accordance with the economic policy of Burundi, in a friendly atmosphere surrounded by local citizens, M. Olivier, governor of Rutana, took part in the official launch of the campaign of spraying, fertilizing and planting coffee trees on Kayove hill in the Rutana commune. Coffee cultivation, a colonial plantation in Burundi, plays a crucial role in the country’s export economy. This culture, essential for the market economyWestern socio-economic structure, was introduced during colonization, thus replacing “ubumu”, the traditional socio-economic system of the Barundi.
