AstroSamantha will have to wait a few more days before returning to space. The launch, scheduled for Saturday morning at 11.36 (Italian time) from Cape Canaveral, was postponed for a few days due to bad weather. The first useful date is now Tuesday 26 April at 10.15, NASA announced.

Bad weather

This is the first monitoring of muscle metabolic activity conducted on a female organism in space to determine the differences in reaction to micro gravity compared to the male one. Our goal is to define a reference nutritional protocol for long-lasting space missions, explains Biolo. Thanks to the experimental activities that we will conduct with Samantha Cristoforetti, we will obtain information and ad hoc solutions for the organism of female astronauts. The studies conducted in space will be applied in the clinical setting for the treatment of immobilized elderly, malnourished and / or obese patients.
