Watan Today: The Aqaba Water Company launched the first pilot phase of an electronic application for smart phone devices (Android and IOS systems and on various types of smart devices) for all water services and subscribers to the Aqaba Water Company, as part of the water sector’s efforts to develop and simplify services and reduce the burden on citizens in line with trends. The government aims to digital transformation in all institutions to be later linked with the Sanad government application.
The new application aims to raise the level of performance, improve operation and maintenance processes, raise the level of subscriber services in accordance with the latest global water technologies, and achieve speed of response, thus improving the level of service and reducing time and effort. The new application will enable citizens to receive the service remotely through smart devices. It will work in both Arabic and English and provide Public services, service centers, calculating bills, inquiring about meter readings, and submitting new subscription requests for water and sanitation services, in addition to malfunctions and complaints.
This application was developed with a grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of its efforts to support the water sector aimed at implementing the National Water Strategy (2023-2040) in line with the requirements of economic modernization in digital transformation and confronting the challenges that the water sector suffers from, in particular reducing the percentage of… Water loss at no less than 2% annually to reach 25% by the year 2040, indicating that the new application works according to the highest levels of advanced electronic security, ensuring confidentiality and privacy, enhancing partnership with subscribers, and allows communication around the clock and requesting service from various locations in order to save time and effort.
The application is part of a comprehensive system that contains software for managing and monitoring regular and smart meters and distribution area meters, monitoring networks and their losses, in addition to automating customer service processes, including requests and complaints. Through this application, every subscriber to the Aqaba Water Company will be able to create a new account. Then follow all ordering procedures in simple and easy steps. For subscribers whose meters have been replaced with a smart meter, its users will be able to know the value of their daily water consumption, every moment, and receive alarms and notifications issued by the smart meters located in their homes from wherever they are. It alerts in cases of high consumption or leaks in the internal networks, which in turn will encourage them to adopt more efficient behaviors and practices in saving water. Connecting the remaining subscribers’ meters in Aqaba will be completed in the middle of next year.
The application will contribute to reducing water waste in the supply networks and internal networks of real estate, and will also serve subscribers in controlling the quantities of water consumption through smart digital meters linked to AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) control devices.
The Aqaba Water Company appreciated the continuous support from the United States Agency for International Development over the past six decades, expressing its thanks and appreciation for the continuous support for the water sector in reducing water losses, improving network infrastructure, developing water resources management, and providing all forms of technical and professional support.
