On February 23, 1965, at the age of 74, Stan Laurel, the Laurel of the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy (Laurel & Hardy), passed away. Born on June 16, 1890 in Ulverston, a city in Cumbria, Arthur Stanley Jefferson – this is the real name of the British actor and director – came from a family of artists. He made his debut in the theater at the age of just 16, in 1906, secretly from his father who would have preferred a career as an impresario for him. Three years later he joined the company of Fred Karno, whose lead actor was Charlie Chaplin. And this is not the only curiosity about him.
