Laurent Berger warns against a forced passage, “the CFDT will be in frontal opposition”

by time news

Laurent Berger did not mince his words. Asked on the set of the program “Political Questions”, Sunday September 18, about the government’s plan to integrate the pension reform into the Social Security financing bill (PLFSS) presented on September 26 in the Council of ministers, the general secretary of the CFDT declared that the union would be « an opposition frontal ».

“Whatever the decision of the couple of the executive (…) to integrate a pension reform into the PLFSS with a postponement of the legal retirement age, we will be in direct opposition”, warns Laurent Berger. And to insist: “The CFDT will be upwind and in opposition. (…) We will oppose it by all means. » Mr. Berger also threatened to leave the National Council for Refoundation (CNR) in the event of a forced passage: “There will have to be loyalty at all levels, if there is disloyalty through the PLFSS, the CFDT will stop discussions within the framework of the CNR (…), he continued. The president was elected by citizens who voted against the far-right candidate. And he would walk on their faces? » Opposed in particular to the postponement of the legal age within the framework of this desired reform at all costs by Emmanuel Macron, Mr. Berger felt that this project “it is a red line and a false debate”.

In a published interview in The world in August, the secretary general of the CFDT had already expressed strong opposition to this reform: “If the executive power seeks to postpone the legal retirement age in an abrupt way, to reduce pension expenditure, it will go into the wall. There is no social acceptance on the subject”he warned.
