Lava flows from a volcano erupting on the island of Palma (Canary Islands) have reached residential buildings, the Canary emergency services said. There are no casualties yet, more than 5 thousand people were evacuated.

The Spanish TV channel 24 horas reports that the number of people evacuated has grown from 2,000 to 5,000, including at least 500 tourists.
The eruption on the Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge near the settlement of El Paso began today, September 19. Several faults have already appeared at the volcano, from where lava flows. The Spanish regulator has asked airlines not to fly to the islands of Palma, Gomera and Hierro due to the eruption.
