Russia does not intend to be held responsible for the migration crises that may arise due to the actions of Western countries, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. According to him, the flow of migrants comes from countries that were “roused” by the authorities of Western states.
As the minister specified, for the first time the topic of illegal migration “became so acute” after NATO bombed Libya and the country “turned into a black hole.” “Migrants appear from Afghanistan, from Iraq, from all those countries that were agitated by our Western colleagues, and now these Western colleagues are just raising their voices, calling the actions of the Belarusian side a“ hybrid war, ”” said Mr. Lavrov (quote from “RIA News”).
According to the minister, “if the West is so worried about illegal migration, then the West needs to calm down.”
«When the European Union realized that this burden was too heavy for it, it began to call on everyone else to share the burden of responsibility for the fate of these migrants. We are not going to share the burden of responsibility for what was not only not supported by us, but what was condemned by us, ”said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Fears of another influx of migrants arose after the Taliban (a movement recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia) seized control of Afghanistan in mid-August. In less than a month, more than 120 thousand people were evacuated from the country. Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev believes that the United States has failed to solve the problems of terrorism and the spread of drugs in Afghanistan. In his opinion, now Russia, the countries of Europe and Central Asia are threatened by a crisis associated with the influx of migrants from Afghanistan.
