The security patrols of the Law Enforcement Department continue their work to secure the “Ras Ajdir” border crossing, during the days of Eid al-Fitr.

According to the WAL agency, this operation falls within the work of the joint security room formed by the Minister of Interior, Imad Trabelsi, to ensure the security of the port.

The Ras Jadeer crossing witnessed a cessation of transit traffic on March 19, after a decision by “Trabelsi” to close the crossing “until further instructions are issued.”

The decision to close came after armed clashes took place on March 18, following the arrival of a force affiliated with the Law Enforcement Administration to the crossing. The Zuwara municipality accused the force of storming it without any coordination with the crossing administration and the competent authorities in the municipality.

On April 4, the head of the Joint Security Room, Major General Abdul Hakim Al-Khaitouni, announced that he had taken over the duties of securing the port from the Chief of General Staff of the National Unity Government.

The government seeks to reopen the port permanently, as it is one of the most important border crossings between Libya and Tunisia, and for the movement of trade between the two countries.
