Law Firm Sues Rudy Giuliani for Over $1.3 Million in Unpaid Legal Fees

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is facing yet another legal battle as a law firm that represented him for several years is now suing him for over $1.3 million in unpaid legal fees. The firm, Davidoff Hutcher & Citron, claims that Giuliani has only paid $214,000 of his total bill, leaving him deeply indebted to them.

The law firm’s attorneys worked on various legal matters for Giuliani, including his now-closed foreign lobbying federal criminal investigation, investigations related to the January 6, 2021 events, and several lawsuits and attorney discipline probes that emerged after the 2020 election. According to the complaint filed in New York state court, Giuliani still owes $1,360,196 to the firm.

Giuliani made a partial payment of $10,000 just four days ago, but it is far from enough to cover his outstanding balance. The law firm had been representing Giuliani from late 2019 until July of this year.

In response to the lawsuit, Giuliani released a statement through his spokesman, Ted Goodman, expressing his disappointment and stating that the law firm’s bill is excessive and not justified. He criticized the actions of Robert Costello, a partner at the firm and a long-time associate of Giuliani, accusing him of creating unnecessary legal expenses.

Giuliani has been vocal about his financial struggles, admitting in court that he is finding it difficult to pay mounting legal fees and handle adverse court decisions. With more legal challenges expected to arise in the future, Giuliani’s financial situation continues to worsen.

This latest lawsuit adds to the growing list of legal troubles facing Giuliani, who has faced intense scrutiny for his actions during the 2020 election on behalf of former President Donald Trump. As the former mayor tries to navigate his legal battles, his unpaid legal fees continue to pile up, placing further strain on his already precarious financial situation.
