Law sanctioned creating the Citizenship portfolio; deputy should take over tomorrow

The sanction of the text of the law that creates the Citizenship portfolio in the State Executive was published today in the Official Gazette, arising from the dismemberment of Setescc (State Secretariat for Tourism, Sports, Culture and Citizenship). The text was signed by the president of the Legislative Assembly, Gerson Claro, who took over as acting governor, following the vacation of governor Eduardo Riedel (PSDB). The inauguration of the incumbent, which should take place tomorrow afternoon, will be led by vice-governor José Carlos Barbosa (PP), “Barbosinha”, who replaces Riedel from today until the 14th. With the reorganization, the only one in the Government’s structure, as highlighted by Riedel in the December report, Viviane will command a secretariat responsible for eight areas linked to citizenship rights, namely: Undersecretariat of Public Policies for Women; Undersecretary of Public Policies for the Promotion of Racial Equality; Undersecretary of Public Policies for Original Peoples; Undersecretary of Public Policies for Youth; Undersecretariat for LGBTQIA+ Public Policies; Undersecretary of Public Policies for People with Disabilities; Undersecretary of Public Policies for Elderly People and Undersecretariat of Public Policies for Community Affairs. The text approved by the deputies and sanctioned today contains the responsibilities of each of the sub-secretariats. For the holder, according to the law, the duties are “promoting the universalization of rights, guaranteeing individual freedoms, equality, equity, social justice and citizenship; promotion and coordination of affirmative policies for the effective exercise of citizenship and development of educational programs and actions against all forms of prejudice, intolerance, discrimination and violence, with a focus on education for equality and citizenship; planning and coordination of public policies to promote racial equality, indigenous peoples, youth, the LGBTQIA+ community, women, people with disabilities, elderly people and community affairs.” The report attempted to contact the future holder of the portfolio and also the government’s advisors to confirm the inauguration ceremony tomorrow. Viviane has a degree in History, with master’s and PHD degrees. She worked at the Dom Bosco Museum, linked to UCDB, and also worked with indigenous communities.
