Lawyer César Julio Pérez Chicué was killed after being the victim of a military attack in the town of Buga, Valle del Cauca.
According to authorities, a subject on a motorcycle caught up with the victim near his residence and shot him, leaving him critically injured.
Despite being helped and taken to a treatment center, the 60-year-old lawyer succumbed to his injuries.
To date, the reasons behind the crime are not known, nor has it been confirmed whether the victim received threats.
Colonel Hugo Gómez, Commander of the Buga Police District, reported that the investigations are being carried out by a special intelligence team to find the whereabouts of the suspected person and those who may be involved in the crime.
As a result of the events, the authorities have called an Extraordinary Security Council in the city of Buga for this Monday.
The injured man is the brother of Juan Ramón Pérez Chicué, the judge of the High Court of Buga.
